renewable heating and energy generation

Almost all homes are suitable for a renewable heating system.  We will assess your home to review what type of renewable heating system would be best for your home. It may be an air source heat pump, a ground source heat pump, a hybrid heating system (air source heat pump and gas boiler) or an efficient electric storage heating system with Solar PV.

Air source heat pumps are a renewable heating source which turns fresh air into heat.  If you’ve ever put your hand near the back of a refrigerator, you’ll know how warm it can get.  This is the heat being expelled from the refrigerator behind the appliance.  An air source heat pump works in a similar way to this, but in reverse for your home.  The air source heat pump uses electricity to run the pump, so it makes sense to couple the air source heat pump with Solar PV.  Air source heat pumps can have a bad press.  They are suitable for insulated properties as they produce a lower heat level.  This heat is constant and lower temperature, which means you may need larger/deeper radiators to allow more heat to be expelled at once.  They take time to heat up and cool down, so should be running constantly at a lower temperature.  This is why is is so important to size the air source heat pump and radiators correctly.  When specified correctly, they can be a fantastic renewable energy source.  Coupled with Solar PV, they can really reduce your energy bills too.

Solar PV generates electricity from sunlight.  This energy is used instead of taking electricity from the grid (from your energy provider).  If any energy is surplus/not used, it will be exported to the grid and your energy company pay you for it.  This is usually at a lower rate per kw, so it is always better to use what is produced so that you are not paying a higher rate for purchasing energy from your supplier.  Unless you have a battery storage unit installed.  This means you can save any surplus energy, or even charge up your battery during low tariff periods such as overnight, then either sell this back to your energy supplier, or use it to lessen your own energy usage.  Savings can be complex, but we will work with you, so you know exactly what your savings can be, then we have EPVS back this up with their insurance backed guarantee – meaning your savings as specified by us, are guaranteed!  Take a look at the EPVS website here for more details – EPVS

We will carry out checks to see if we can fit a renewable heating system in your home.  If your property is suitable (almost all properties are)   There is never any obligation to have the work carried out, but the work should pay for itself over it’s lifetime and more.  We provide details of the savings this can make for you too, so you can see what the savings will be.  If a contribution is going to be difficult, we also have finance available through our finance provider, Shermin Finance which offer 0% finance for up to 24 months – see the funding and finance section for more information and a no obligation quote.

Alternatively we have a ‘hire purchase’ style finance offer from Hometree Finance.  This is a lease agreement where you own the panels once you have paid the agreement in full.  The finance can be from 0 to 25 years and with £0 deposit, or with a deposit if you wish to bring the monthly payments down.  It is flexible and means that you will make savings on your energy bill from day 1!  No waiting for a payback period to kick in. Whilst you are paying for the agreement, they also cover any repairs or replacements needed, so you know that your solar PV system, battery storage or air source heat pump are covered!
