Boiler replacement
Boiler replacement
If you currently have an inefficient gas boiler we would recommend replacing this with a new A rated boiler. British Gas say that you will save approximately £840 / 23% per year off your gas bill, when upgrading from a D rated gas boiler to an energy efficient A rated boiler!

If your boiler is efficient the upgrade option for your heating is to install a renewable heating system for you instead. See our pages on air source heat pumps and solar PV for more details. We can also install a hybrid (gas and air source heat pump) system if you want the best of both worlds, and keep your gas boiler alongside a new air source heat pump

A substantial portion of your annual energy bills goes towards heating and hot water costs. This means having an efficient boiler fitted at your home can make a huge difference towards the energy efficiency and cost savings of your home.
Newer boiler models are far more energy efficient, especially if your existing boiler is what’s called “non-condensing”. Condensing boilers are more efficient as they capture a greater amount of heat from exhaust flue gases and utilise it to warm the central heating water, resulting in a much higher efficiency compared to older boiler models.
Recognising if your boiler is condensing or not is straightforward using the following criteria: In the UK, nearly all gas boilers installed since 2005 are of the more efficient, condensing type. Your boiler can be identified as condensing if:
- Flue Material: If the boiler flue is constructed from plastic, it suggests it is a condensing boiler. Conversely, if the flue is made of metal, it’s unlikely to be a condensing model.
- Plastic Pipe Outlet: Condensing boilers typically feature a plastic pipe emerging from the bottom of the boiler. This pipe extends through the wall and leads into a drainage system. It us often white.
- Installation Date: If the boiler in question is a gas or LPG boiler that was installed after 2005, or an oil boiler that was installed after 2007, it is likely to be a condensing model due to the efficiency regulations implemented during that time.
Typically, replacing your boiler can cost anywhere between £2500 to £5500. It usually depends on the fuel type and the replacement of your current boiler and the radiator valves, as well as any existing hot water tank.
We can give you a competitive quotation, 0% interest free credit for up to 24 months, or even a longer ‘hire purchase’ style finance where you would pay for the boiler monthly, over a longer period, which also includes annual servicing and repairs as part of the agreement!
